PR Committee

The PR Committee is responsible for all Public Relations affairs. The members of this committee are responsible for the acquisition of sponsors, promoting events, maintaining and updating the website and making ESN card deals. Furthermore, this committee is very active in the formation of a network around ESN, so that international students can benefit from events other student associations organize.

The PR Committee of 2011-2012 consists of:

Online Reporter: Kaya Waterman

kaya.JPGMy name is Kaya, I am 26 years old and originally from Germany.
How I ended up in Amsterdam?
I am currently studying the Bachelor of International Development studies at the University of Wageningen, a small Dutch town about an hour from Amsterdam. I am now in my third and last year and had the opportunity to take some courses at another university. That’s why I am now following the Minor Biomedical and health interventions at the VU until the end of January.
I am quite an outgoing a fun loving person. Since I have been to New Zealand for a High school year, I love to travel and have been to Central America and South East Asia for the last two years. South America and more places in Africa are on the waiting list.
I like to do sports, like surfing, sailing, beach volleyball... I think you got the point: everything related to water, beach and summer feeling
Hope to see you soon at ESN!

Sponsorship Officer: Sanne Gruter

SanneHi everyone, my name is Sanne. I am 21 years old and live in Utrecht. After I gained my Bachelor Applied Psychology last year, I started a Pre-Master Organization Science at the VU in Amsterdam in the hope to be starting the International Master Culture, Organization and Management next year.
The reason I joined the PR-commission of ESN VUniverse is to put the knowledge picked up during multiple internships and jobs I had during my bachelor, into practice. A more personal reason is to get to know more students an and to develop myself in a professional manner.
In my spare time I like to play sports like tennis, volleyball and swimming. I also like to travel and experience new cultures. I am a driven person and a good team player. I will do my best to make ESN VUniverse an even more attractive society to be part off.

IT & Promotion Officer: Giulia Manole

giulia.png Hi. My name is Giulia, I’m 25 and Romanian. I moved to the lovely city of Amsterdam 4 years ago and I’m currently doing a Master in Information Sciences at VU. I like to be enthusiastic about what I do, and I try to keep a healthy balance between being a good student and having a social life. I joined the PR committee for the social side of it, but also to develop some skills in the PR area. I come from an engineering background, but I’ve always had small attempts to be active in PR. At my previous University I was part of the student board and I helped out on Open Days, international University fairs and those kinds of activities. I like to travel, I’ve seen quite a few places around Europe and the States by now, and during summer time my favourite destination is an island I haven’t explored yet! In my free time I like to cycle, relax at a park or dig up natural remedies for beauty and health.

External Affairs Officer: Lucia Baiocco

Lucia.jpgMy name is Lucia, I am a 22 years old italian girl.
I have the pleasure to reckon myself as an Amsterdammer since January, when I came here as an exchange student. “Are you a master now?” No, the situation is slightly more complicated (and pleasant). My story is the happy ending story of an erasmus student who failed 2 out of 3 exams she took. This forced me to re-take the first exam I failed. If I hadn’t done it now I wouldn’t be here, since I wouldn’t be cooperating on a research with the professor who taught that class. “Every cloud has a silver lining”!
What I love the most in the life is travelling, discovering new things, creating and socializing.

See you at next ESN event! In the meantime enjoy the canals, don’t eat too many french fries.. and lock your bike! ;)

Chairwoman and Networking Officer: Malvina Ske

Malvina.jpgHaving completed my International Business bachelor degree with Spanish in London, I chose to study an MBA in Amsterdam due to the high quality of education, value for money and quality of life. I participated on the Erasmus study exchange program for a year in Alicante, Spain where I also combined my studies with an internship in an international Spanish firm and studied Chinese, Italian, French and German. My passions are to discover the world, learn new languages and constantly challenge myself. In my spare time, I enjoy playing beach volleyball and badminton, practicing martial arts and water sports from surfing to rowing.

IT Officer: Ata Almasi

I’m studying physics and trying to realize answers to my questions. However, every time I find an answer, I face more questions. Designing websites, server administration and IT stuff in total, are my personal favorites. I used to have a website for my favorite soccer team.
